Grace Larson Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College volleyball player Grace Larson was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance in the team's five matches over the last seven days.

After missing nearly two weeks due to injury, Larson returned to the lineup in the Foresters' five-set loss at Illinois Institute of Technology on Friday. The senior led all players in the contest with a career-high 25 kills and tied for match-high honors with 23 digs. It was the first 20/20 performance by a Forester since Larson tallied 20 in both categories during the 2015 season.

On Saturday, in their first match of the day, the Foresters prevailed in three sets against Alverno College with Larson pounding out a match-high 16 kills and tying for team-high honors with seven digs.

The Foresters posted a five-set victory at Concordia University Chicago later Saturday afternoon. Larson led all players in the match with 23 kills, 17 digs, and four aces while posting a .487 hitting percentage.

On Tuesday, the Foresters picked up their third win in a row, prevailing in four sets over visiting Trinity International University. Larson had 21 a match-high kills and reached double figures in digs as well with 10.

Lake Forest was defeated in five sets by Wheaton College on Wednesday. Larson established a new career-high with 27 kills and also finished with 13 digs for her eighth double-double of the season and the 30th of her career.

Larson had 112 kills, a .286 hitting percentage, 70 digs, and a dozen aces in the five matches combined.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Larson was also named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her play over the weekend.
