Sophomore Olivia Drevs matched her career-high with a dozen kills to help lead the Lake Forest College volleyball team to a 25-19, 28-26, 21-25, 25-18 victory over Trinity International University at home Tuesday night.

Drevs also had 12 kills at Trinity International in last year's meeting between the two neighboring schools. She also recorded two aces, three assists, and 12 digs Tuesday night for her first career double-double.

Senior Grace Larson led the home team with 21 kills and she also posted a double-double with 10 digs. Sophomore Olivia Smith finished with 16 kills and chipped in with two aces and three blocks.

Additional team-highs were turned in by senior Emily Witz with 19 digs, sophomore Isabel Donnelly with three blocks, and junior Olivia Rhodes with 45 assists. Rhodes also reached double figures in digs with 12.

An 8-1 run in the opening set gave the Foresters a 17-9 lead and the Trojans got no closer than five points the rest of the way. Rhodes set up a kill by Smith to finish off the set.

Set two was tied at 15 before Lake Forest rattled off four straight points. The home team was poised to take the set, leading 24-19, but Trinity International won six points in a row to create a set point opportunity of its own. A kill by Larson tied the score at 25 and, two serves later, she kept the Foresters alive again with another kill to tie it at 26. Rhodes then assisted Drevs and Larson set up Smith to close out the set.

The third set was also tied at 15 and again at 16 before the visitors took the lead for good. They were ahead 24-18 before Lake Forest made things interesting with three points in a row before dropping the set 25-21.

The Foresters trailed 7-6 in set four before using an 11-3 run to take control. Their lead grew to as many as eight points at 22-14 but the Trojans took the next three to pull to within five. The score was 24-18 when Drevs pounded out the match-clinching kill.

It was the third victory in a row for the Foresters, who are now 7-9 on the season. Trinity International fell to 11-7.

Lake Forest will be in action again Wednesday night at Wheaton College. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m.
