Lake Forest College volleyball player Emily Witz was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in three contests last week.

Witz, a senior libero, shared match-high honors with 14 digs and four aces in the Foresters' four-set victory over visiting Alverno College Tuesday night. She also added four assists on the evening.

Lake Forest was defeated in five sets at Benedictine University Friday night, despite a team-high 19 digs and career-high six aces from Witz.

The Foresters then closed out the week with a three-set loss to Dominican University at home on Saturday. Witz finished with 10 digs to extend her season-opening streak of reaching double figures in that category to a dozen matches. She served up a pair of aces, giving her at least one in 11 of 12 contests this season, including each of the last 10.

Witz leads the league so far this season with 0.65 aces per set and she ranks ninth in the MWC in digs per set with 3.92.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office.
