The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-7 at Trinity International University Tuesday night. Sophomore setter Tori Tinman tallied a career-high 30 assists in the contest.

Tinman's previous career-high was 21 against St. Norbert College on October 3.

Senior right side hitter Bailey Everhart led the Foresters in kills on Tuesday with 13. Junior middle blocker Brittany Avonts was next with 12 and freshman outside hitter Grace Larson added 11. Larson also had 14 digs for her fourth double-double in the last five matches. Senior libero Brianne Honda led the visitors with 15 digs and Avonts with four blocks.

Lake Forest trailed 21-18 in the opening set before winning seven of the next eight points to take it.

Trinity led 23-22 late in the second set before kills by Everhart and senior outside hitter Paige Jespersen gave the visitors the lead and a Trojan attack error ended the set.

An 8-0 run by Trinity International in the third set gave the home team a 16-7 advantage and the teams played close to evenly the rest of the way.

Lake Forest had a 21-20 lead in set four before surrendering five points in a row, setting up the fifth and final set.

The Trojans started the fifth set with five straight points and jumped out to an 8-1 lead. The Foresters twice trimmed the deficit to three points but they would get no closer.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record to 7-14 while Trinity International improved to 2-12.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play at home this weekend. The Foresters will host Grinnell College Friday night at 7:30 and Cornell College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
