The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 by Wheaton College at home Tuesday night. Junior outside hitter Paige Jespersen led the Foresters with 10 kills and 14 digs.

It was the fourth double-double of the young season for Jespersen and the 11th of her career. She committed just two attack errors in 22 attempts on the night for a .364 hitting percentage.

Senior libero Brianne Honda also reached double figures in digs with 11 and sophomore setter Tori Tinman had a team-high 13 assists. Junior middle blocker Brittany Avonts had five blocks, including three solos.

Wheaton won the first three points of the night and led throughout the opening set. Lake Forest trimmed the deficit to two points six times but would get no closer.

Set two was tied at 18 before the Thunder closed it out on a 7-2 run.

The third set was tied even later but a Wheaton ace put the visitors ahead 22-21 and a Forester hitting error made it a two-point margin. Lake Forest won the next point to make the score 23-22 but the Thunder responded with back-to-back points to finish off the match.

The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 3-3 while Wheaton improved to 3-2.

Lake Forest will travel to Macalester College this weekend for the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Invitational. The Foresters will take on Luther College and Macalester on Friday and St. Olaf College and Carleton College on Sunday.
