Lake Forest Falls at Carroll, Needs Win on Friday to Extend Season

The Forester volleyball team was defeated 25-21, 25-19, 25-9 at Carroll University Tuesday night in a battle between programs trying to reach the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament. Lake Forest will need a victory at Ripon College Friday night to have a chance to qualify.

Sophomore Brittany Avonts led the Foresters on Tuesday with 10 kills and classmate Paige Jespersen added eight. Senior Torie Pasiewicz and junior Brianne Honda recorded team-highs with 25 assists and 10 digs, respectively.

Carroll posted a season-high .368 hitting percentage in the match, the Pioneers first time at .300 or above this year. 

The Foresters fell to 12-14 overall this season and, more importantly, to 6-3 in league play. Carroll is now 10-16 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

Lake Forest will close out the regular season at Ripon College (15-9, 5-2 MWC), another contender for a MWC Tournament berth, Friday night at 7:00. Ripon also plays at Carroll on Wednesday and against Beloit College (3-21, 0-9 MWC) on Saturday. Carroll's final match will be at st. Norbert College (13-13, 7-1 MWC) on Friday. Cornell College has already clinched firts place in the standings and will host the tournament November 7-8.
