The Lake Forest College volleyball team defeated visiting Beloit College 25-23, 25-13, 25-10 Tuesday night in its first Midwest Conference match of the season. Junior Bailey Everhart had a career-high 11 kills on the night.

Everhart also had just one error in 16 attempts for a .625 hitting percentage. After registering three kills in the opening set, she added four more in each of the last two. Her previous career-high was eight.

Sophomore Paige Jespersen led Lake Forest with a dozen kills and tied for the team lead with three aces. Classmate Brittany Avonts, who also had three aces, finished with nine kills. Briahna Havis, another sophomore, led the home team with a season-high eight digs.

Forester senior Torie Pasiewicz matched her season-high with 35 assists and moved into fourth place in program history with 2,163 assists in her career.

Pasiewicz started the match with an ace and helped the home team jump out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set. Beloit closed back to within a point eight times without ever drawing even. Leading 24-23, Pasiewicz set up Everhart for the set-clinching kill.

Lake Forest won the first three points of the second set and quickly pulled away. Everhart had two kills and Jespersen two aces during a four-point run that extended the lead to 19-6. Avonts recorded six kills in as many attempts in the set and a kill by Jespersen closed it out.

The only time the score was tied, other than before each set, was at 1-1 in the third. Lake Forest then rattled off five straight points to pull away. Avonts served up all three of her aces during a 10-0 run later in the set, putting the Foresters ahead 22-5. Their final two points of the night came on kills by Everhart.

Lake Forest is now 7-11 overall this season. The loss drops Beloit to 1-14 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

The Foresters will continue league play Thursday night at Illinois College. The match will begin at 7:00.
