Lake Forest Drops First Two Matches at ACM Invitational

The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 25-16, 25-16, 25-12 by Carleton College and 25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21 by host Grinnell College at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) Volleyball Invitational Tournament on Saturday. Sophomore Brittany Avonts pounded out a Forester season-high 16 kills in the team's second match of the day.

Avonts also tied for the team lead in kills against Carleton with six, matching the total posted by junior Bailey Everhart. Junior Brianne Honda led the Foresters with 11 digs and senior Torie Pasiewicz with 14 assists. Senior Taylor Bradbury had a pair of aces and freshman Rebecca Lynch added two blocks.

One-third of Lake Forest's kills against Grinnell were accounted for by Avonts, who also tied for the team lead with two aces and three blocks. Junior Erin Sully was next on the squad with seven kills. Honda led the team in digs again with 16. Pasiewicz tallied 29 assists, matched Avonts' two aces, and also reached double figures in digs with 11. Lynch joined Avonts with three blocks.

The Foresters are now 1-9 on the year and will play two more matches at Grinnell on Sunday. They will take on Luther College at 9:00 in the morning and Macalester College at 11:00.
