Foresters Fall in Four Sets at Wheaton

The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 25-17, 22-25, 25-13, 25-20 at Wheaton College Tuesday night. Sophomore Paige Jespersen led the Foresters with a career-high 12 kills in the match.

It was the second consecutive match that Jespersen established a new career-high in kills, having entered the season with a high of seven and tallying eight on Saturday against Greenville College.

Lake Forest sophomore Brittany Avonts and junior Erin Sully also reached double figures with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Junior Brianne Honda led the visitors with 16 digs and was one of four players on the team with a pair of aces. That list also included Avonts, Sully, and senior setter Torie Pasiewicz, who finished the night with a season-high 35 assists. Junior Bailey Everhart and freshman Rebecca Lynch shared each of the team's three blocks.

The Foresters won the first point in each set but quickly fell behind in all three of the ones they lost. They battled back in the fourth set and led 16-15 before being outscored 10-4 as the Thunder clinched the match.

Lake Forest is now 1-7 on the season while Wheaton waised its record to 2-6.

Lake Forest will take on Carleton College at 2:00 and Grinnell at 4:00 Saturday afternoon before playing Luther College at 9:00 and Macalester College at 11:00 Sunday morning.
