Lake Forest Drops a Pair of Matches at Illinois Weleyan

The Forester volleyball team was defeated in four sets at Illinois Wesleyan University and in three to Greenville College at the Barker Chevrolet Classic on Saturday. Lake Forest sophomore Brittany Avonts pounded out 26 kills and posted a .511 hitting percentage on the day.

Avonts had 14 kills and just two errors in 28 attempts against Illinois Wesleyan. She also added three blocks, including two solos.

Junior Erin Sully and sophomore Paige Jespersen were next on the team with seven kills apiece. Junior Brianne Honda recorded a Forester season-high 20 digs while senior setter Torie Pasiewicz chipped in with 16, senior Taylor Bradbury with 13, and Sully with 10. Pasiewicz tallied 23 assists in the match.

Pasiewicz had 18 assists against Greenville and led Lake Forest with a dozen digs and three blocks. Sully and Bradbury also reached double figures with 10 digs apiece. Avonts recorded a team-high 12 kills with just one error in 17 attempts for a .647 hitting percentage. Jespersen added eight kills and seven digs.

Avonts, who was named to the Barker Classic All-Tournament Team after play ended on Saturday, leads the Foresters this season with 51 kills and a .312 hitting percentage. Honda's 65 digs and nine aces are team-highs, as are the 127 assists posted by Pasiewicz and the 12 blocks recorded by freshman Rebecca Lynch.

Saturday's losses drop Lake Forest's record on the year to 1-6. The Foresters will travel to Wheaton College on Tuesday for a 7:00 match against the Thunder.
