Foresters Defeat Blackburn for First Victory of 2014

The Lake Forest College volleyball team posted a 25-18, 25-21, 26-14 victory over Blackburn College Friday night at Illinois Wesleyan University's Barker Chevrolet Classic. Senior Taylor Bradbury led the Foresters with a career-high 18 digs in the match.

Bradbury's previous career-high in digs was 16 against Mouth Mary University last year and her season high was 10 at Elmhurst last Saturday. She ranks third on the team with 33 digs in five matches this season.

Sophomore Brittany Avonts led the Foresters with seven kills and four blocks on the night while freshman Rebecca Lynch and juniors K.C. Wenson and Natalie Literski added five kills apiece. Senior setter Torie Pasiewicz recorded a season-high 29 assists and 13 digs and junior libero Brianne Honda finished with 16 digs -- also a season-high.

Lake Forest is now 1-4 and Blackburn 0-5 on the season.

The Foresters will take on the hosts tomorrow morning at 10:00 and Greenville College at noon.
