Lake Forest Sweeps Knox to Even MWC Record at 1-1

The Forester volleyball team hosted and defeated Knox College 25-21, 25-12, 25-11 Friday night. Lake Forest sophomore Bailey Everhart pounded out seven kills and posted a .545 hitting percentage on the evening.

Everhart committed just one attack error in 11 attempts, helping the Foresters record a season-high .353 hitting percentage as a team. The previous season-best mark was .270 set against Grinnell College on September 15.

Freshman Brittany Avonts led the home team with a dozen kills and she was at least part of all four of the Foresters' blocks on the night. Junior Torie Pasiewicz led the squad with 18 assists and senior Victoria Drasler added 14. Pasiewicz also had a pair of aces and sophomore Brianne Honda tallied a team-high 17 digs.

The opening set was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than four points at any time. The score was tied 12 times, the last at 18 before a Knox service error gave the Foresters the lead for good. It was part of an 8-3 run that made the score 24-20. The Prairie Fire fought off a pair of set points before the only kill of the match by Pasiewicz finished off the set.

Everhart had three kills during a 15-3 Forester run in set two. After taking an 18-6 lead, Lake Forest basically traded points with the Prairie Fire the rest of the way. Everhart's fourth kill of the set accounted for the 25th point.

The Foresters quickly pulled away in the third set as well and led 18-5 after just one turn through the rotation. Drasler had three kills during the set, including one on match point.

Lake Forest is now 7-11 overall this season and 1-1 in Midwest Conference play. Knox fell to 3-14 overall and 1-2 in the league.

The Foresters will be back in action in the Sports Center at noon on Saturday for another conference match against Monmouth College.
