Lake Forest Win at Knox, Clinches Berth in MWC Tourney

The Forester volleyball team prevailed 25-8, 25-13, 25-16 at Knox College on Saturday to clinch the #3 seed in next weekend's four-team Midwest Conference Tournament. Lake Forest senior Megan Trubich matched her season-high with 11 kills on just 16 attempts in the contest.

Trubich had just one error and posted a .625 hitting percentage on the day. Lake Forest's .323 hitting percentage in the match was a season-high.

Fellow Forester senior Molly McCloskey led all players in the match with 15 kills and 14 digs and she added a pair of aces. It was her 16th double double of the year. Sophomore Brooke Perkins was next on the team with a dozen digs and senior Tia Rupnik added 10.

Sophomore Torie Pasiewicz led Lake Forest with 23 assists and three aces and junior Tori Drasler had 13 assists.

The Foresters never trailed in the match and lost consecutive points just once in each of the first two sets. Lake Forest won six straight points to take the lead early in the third set and added runs of five and four points to pull away and secure the victory.

Lake Forest completed the regular season with a 17-9 overall record and a 7-3 mark in conference play. Knox finished 2-29 overall and was 0-10 in league matches.

The Foresters tied for third in the MWC standings with Monmouth College, who they defeated Friday night. Cornell College went 10-0 in conference play to claim the league title and will host next weekend's MWC Tournament. Lake Forest will face St. Norbert College (23-8, 9-1 MWC) in Friday's 4:30 semifinal. Cornell will take on Monmouth at 7:00 and the winners will play for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
