Lake Forest Falls to St. Norbert

The Forester volleyball team was defeated 25-15, 25-18, 25-19 by visiting St. Norbert College Friday night. Senior Courtney Faulstick led the home team with eight kills.

Fellow seniors Molly McCloskey, Cori Cooper, and Megan Trubich finished with six, five, and four kills respectively. Sophomore setter Torie Pasiewicz had 20 assists and 15 digs. Senior Tia Rupnik led the home team with 16 digs and McCloskey added 14.

Lake Forest actually scored the first three points of the night and led 11-5 in the first set. The Green Knights, however, rattled off 10 straight points to take the lead and the visitors cruised to a 25-15 victory in the first set.

St. Norbert jumped out to an early 11-4 lead in set two and never let the Foresters get any closer than six points the rest of the way.

Lake Forest scored the first two points of the third set but quickly found itself trailing 4-2. Three straight Forester points a few minutes later trimmed the Green Knight lead to 8-7 but the visitors would remain ahead for the rest of the contest. Lake Forest was unable to string together and more than two consecutive points and St. Norbert finished off the victory.

The Foresters fell to 13-8 overall on the season and 3-2 in Midwest Conference play. St. Norbert is now 16-7 overall and 3-0 in the league.

Lake Forest will play its final home match of the season tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 against Lawrence University. It will also be the final career home match for Faulstick, McCloskey, Cooper, Trubich, Rupnik, and fellow senior Kristen Braun.
