Foresters Split Matches at Red & Black Triangular

The Lake Forest College volleyball team defeated North Central College in three sets but fell in five to host Benedictine University on Saturday. Forester seniors Cori Cooper and Molly McCloskey tied for team-high honors with 26 kills on the day.

McCloskey led Lake Forest with 19 kills in the 25-16, 35-33, 25-17 victory over North Central. She committed just four errors in 42 attempts for a .357 hitting percentage and also added a dozen digs. Cooper was next on the team with 11 kills and she posted a .320 hitting percentage. Fellow senior Megan Trubich also reached double figures with 10 kills and her hitting percentage was .471. The Foresters' .319 hitting percentage in the match was a season-high.

Sophomore setter Torie Pasiewicz led Lake Forest with 45 assists, served up a pair of aces, and chipped in with 11 digs. Sophomore Brooke Perkins also had 11 digs and senior Tia Rupnik led the squad with 15.

Cooper's 15 kills led the Foresters in their 25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 18-25, 15-3 loss to Benedictine. Senior Courtney Faulstick finished with 11 kills and Trubich had 10 for the second time on the day.

Pasiewicz had 42 assists, two more aces, and 13 digs, one more than both Cooper and freshman Brianne Honda. Rupnik finished with a career-high 32 digs.

Lake Forest is now 6-5 on the season. North Central also fell to Benedictine and is now 9-4. Benedictine is undefeated in 11 matches.

The Foresters will play at Mount Mary College Tuesday night at 7:00.
