Lake Forest Splits Four Matches at Elmhurst Invitational

The Forester volleyball team returned from the Elmhurst Invitational Saturday evening with two wins and two losses on the weekend. Senior Molly McCloskey led Lake Forest with 54 kills in the four matches combined.

McCloskey finished with a team-high 17 kills and four aces and added 11 digs in the opener against Albion College on Friday. The Foresters took the match 25-22, 25-11, 21-25, 25-20. Freshman Erin Sully also reached double figures in kills with a dozen and she chipped in with eight digs. Sophomore Torie Pasiewicz led the setters with 22 assists, senior Tia Rupnik tallied a team-high 18 digs, and seniors Courtney Faulstick and Megan Trubich recorded seven and six blocks, respectively.

Friday's second match was a little tougher as the Foresters faced Elmhurst College, the nation's 11th-ranked team and fell 21-16, 21-15, 21-12. McCloskey had 10 of the visitors' 20 kills.

Lake Forest began Saturday with a 25-14, 25-23, 25-22 loss to the University of Chicago. Sully led the Foresters with eight kills, junior Tori Drasler with 17 assists, and McCloskey with 14 digs.

The final match of the weekend for Lake Forest was a hard-fought, come-from-behind, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25, 28-26, 15-10 victory over John Carroll University. McCloskey led the squad with 20 kills while senior Cori Cooper added 17, Faulstick 12, and Trubich 10. Pasiewicz had a career-high 42 assists and also chipped in with 16 digs. Rupnik had a team-high 25 digs, McCloskey matched Pasiewicz with 16, and freshman Brianne Honda added 14. Trubich served up four of the Foresters' seven aces and senior Kristen Braun finished with seven blocks.

In addition to McCloskey's 54 kills on the weekend, Rupnik led the team with 59 digs, Pasiewicz with 89 assists, Trubich with six aces, and Braun with 13 blocks.

The Foresters' next match will be Tuesday night at 7:00 at Wheaton College.
