Bugnacki's #2 Singles Title Highlights Foresters' Performance at MWC Individual Tournaments

Junior Margaret Bugnacki captured a championship at #2 singles and Lake Forest added seven runner-up finishes at the Midwest Conference Individual Tournaments on Sunday.

Bugnacki, who was the bracket's top seed after going 6-0 in league play during the regular season, prevailed 6-0, 6-1 in Saturday evening's semifinals and 6-3, 6-1 in the final Sunday morning.  She is now 12-6 in all singles matches this fall and the Foresters' only First Team All-MWC honoree.

Lake Forest players earned Second Team All-MWC honores as the runners-up at each of the other five positions in the singles lineup. Junior Maria Jose Campos competed at the top spot while freshman Libby Moog, sophomore Sara Lopez, freshman Maggie Fields, and freshman Becca Daskal playing at #3 through #6, respectively. Lopez came the closest to adding another title to the team's weekend but eventually fell 6-2, 4-6, (10-5) at #4.

Moog and Lopez also reached the final at #2 doubles, as did Fields and Daskal at #3. Both pairings earn Second Team All-MWC honors again for their performance.

The Foresters are now finished for the fall semester and will resume their 2022-23 season in early March.
