The Lake Forest College women's tennis team came out on top of a 5-4 decision against visiting Carthage College Sunday evening at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
Katie Wegrecki, the Foresters' only senior, closed out her career with a pair of victories. She combined with freshman Isa Hinojosa on an 8-6 triumph at #3 doubles before rolling 6-0, 6-1 at #5 singles.
Sophomore Margaret also won twice for the home team, teaming up with junior Natalia Leite on an 8-1 victory at #2 doubles and edging out the Firebirds' #2 player 2-6, 6-3, (11-9).
The deciding point in the match was earned by Lake Forest freshman Sara Lopez at #3 singles, where she prevailed 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.
The Foresters finished 11-7 in 2021-22 while Carthage fell to 7-8.
