Lake Forest Defeats Gettysburg 5-4

The Forester women's tennis team posted a 5-4 victory over Gettysburg College on Wednesday and is now 2-1 in Hilton Head, South Carolina, during spring break.

The Bullets earned the first point of the match but Lake Forest took the other two doubles matches. Sophomore Margaret Bugnacki and junior Natalia Leite doubled up their counterparts 6-4 at #2 and freshmen Isa Hinojosa and Emily Bross gave the Foresters the lead with an 8-5 triumph at #3.

After Gettysburg pulled back out in front with victories at the top two spots in the singles lineup, freshman Sara Lopez won 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) at #3 and Bross came out on top 6-2, 6-4 at #6. The point at #5 went to the Bullets, leaving Lake Forest's fate up to Leite at #4. She prevailed 6-3, 4-6, (10-6) to send the Foresters to 10-6 on the season.

It was Gettysburg's first loss in six matches this year.

After a day off, the Foresters will close out the trip against Morningside University Friday afternoon at 1:30 (ET).
