Lake Forest Starts Spring with Loss at St. Francis

The Forester women's tennis began the spring portion of its 2021-22 schedule with a 5-2 loss at the University of St. Francis on Sunday.

The Saints started the day by taking each of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles contests.

The last Lake Forest players on the court were sophomore Margaret Bugnacki at #3 singles and senior Katie Wegrecki at #5. Bugnacki was doubled up 6-3 in the opening set but won the second by the same score. She also took set three 6-0 to give the visitors their first point of the afternoon. Tiebreakers were needed in the first two sets for Wegrecki and her opponent, with both players posting a 7-6 (7-3) victory. Wegrecki also prevailed 6-2 in set three to close out the match.

The Foresters are now 8-5 on the year while St. Francis improved to 4-3.

Lake Forest's next four contests will be played during the team's Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina March 7-11.
