Foresters Defeat Ripon 7-2

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team hosted and defeated Ripon College 7-2 in Midwest Conference play on Sunday.

The Foresters swept the three doubles matches. Sophomore Maria Jose Campos and freshman Sara Lopez prevailed 8-2 atop the lineup while sophomore Margaret Bugnacki and junior Natalia Leite won by the same score at #2. A 8-1 triumph by freshman Emily Bross and Isa Hinajosa gave the home team a 3-0 lead.

Campos began singles play by taking both sets 6-1 against the Red Hawks' top player and Lopez clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at #2. Bugnacki did not drop a game at #3 and, after Ripon earled points at #5 and #6, Leite closed out the contest with a 6-4, 6-1 win at #4.

Lake Forest improved to 5-4 overall this season and remained perfect in MWC play through three league matches. Ripon fell to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the league.

The Foresters will continue conference competition against Lawrence University at home next Saturday. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
