Foresters' Season Ends at MWC Championship Match

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team was defeated 5-1 by Grinnell College in Friday's Midwest Conference Championship Match.

The Foresters' only point came from senior Emma Wang and freshman Margaret Bugnacki, who doubled up the Pioneers' #2 doubles team 8-4.

Grinnell prevailed at #1 and #3 doubles and began singles play with victories at #4. Another triumph by the Pioneers at the top of the singles lineup put them on the brink of clinching the match, which they eventually did with a win at #2. Lake Forest dropped the first set at two of the other three spots in the singles lineup with sophomore Natalia Leite (#6) being the only Forester leading when the match officially ended.

Lake Forest finished the spring with an overall record of 7-2. Grinnell advances to the NCAA Division III Tournament at 9-0.

Wang will be joined by fellow seniors Julie Lord, Tyranny Miller, and Grace Gould at graduation later this month. All four players rank among the top 10 in program history in career victories, combining for 448 over the last four years.
