Lake Forest Closes Out Regular Season with Victory at St. Norbert

The Forester women's tennis team finished off a perfect 4-0 season in Midwest Conference North Division play with a 9-0 win at St. Norbert College on Sunday.

Lake Forest outscored the Green Knights 24 games to four in the three doubles matches combined. Seniors Julie Lord and Tyranny Miller prevailed 8-3 at the top spot while senior Emma Wang and freshman Margaret Bugnacki rolled 8-1 at #2 and freshman MJ Campos and sophomore Natalia Leite blanked their counterparts at #3 8-0.

Bugnacki was the first to finish in singles, taking both sets 6-0 at #5 for the second day in a row. The clinching points came from Miller at #4, where she won 6-1, 6-2. Wang was victorious 6-0, 6-4 at #3 and Campos 6-2, 6-3 at #2. Lord came out on top of both sets 6-2 at #1 and Leite improved to 7-0 on the season with a narrow 6-3, 4-6, (10-4) triumph at #6.

The Foresters are now 6-1 overall this spring while St. Norbert fell to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the division. The Green Knights will host Cornell College in the semifinals of the MWC North Division Tournament on Friday with the winner coming to Lake Forest for the final on Sunday. The divisional champ will travel to the winner of the South for the MWC Championship Match on Sunday, May 9.
