Foresters Sweep Cornell for Second Straight Saturday, Clinch First Place in MWC North

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over visiting Cornell College on Saturday, a week after prevailing by the same score on the road.

The home team dropped just two games in the three doubles matches combined. Seniors Julie Lord and Tyranny Miller blanked the Rams' top tandem 8-0 and senior Emma Wang and freshman Margaret Bugnacki won by the same score at #2. Freshman MJ Campos and sophomore Natalia Leite added an 8-2 triumph at #3.

Lord was the first to finish in singles, defeating Cornell's best 6-0, 6-3. Wang's 6-0, 6-1 victory at #3 provided the clinching point, Miller was equally dominant in her 6-1, 6-0 win at #4, and Campos came out on top 6-2, 7-5 at #2. Bugnacki did not drop a game at #5 and Leite closed out the contest by taking both sets 6-2 at #6.

The Foresters improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Midwest Conference North Division play while Cornell fell to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Lake Forest heads into tomorrow's regular season finale at St. Norbert College having already clinched the top seed in the MWC North Division Tournament.
