Julie Lord Named MWC Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College women's tennis player Julie Lord was voted Midwest Conference Performer of the Week after posting convincing victories at the top of the singles and doubles lineups twice over the weekend.

The Foresters prevailed 9-0 at Cornell College on Saturday and celebrated Senior Day with another 9-0 triumph over visiting St. Norbert College on Sunday.

Lord and fellow senior Tyranny Miller defeated the top doubles team from Cornell 8-3 to begin play on Saturday. The three games taken by the Rams were the only ones surrendered by Lord all weekend, who went on to blank the #1 singles player from Cornell 6-0, 6-0.

Lord and Miller won 8-0 against the top tandem from St. Norbert and Lord rolled to another 6-0, 6-0 victory in singles on Sunday.

With a 9-1 record in singles and doubles combined so far this spring, Lord is now 129-43 in her career and ranked fifth in program history in victories. Her last triumph of the weekend moved her into sole possession of fourth place in team annals with 61 career singles wins and she continues to rank sixth in doubles victories with 68.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Lord, a three-time MWC champion at #1 doubles and two-time winner at #1 singles, has now earned the weekly award four times in her career.
