Foresters Sweep Elmhurst, Improve to 2-1

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team routed visiting Elmhurst College 9-0 Tuesday evening at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

All three doubles matches were convincing victories for the Foresters with seniors Julie Lord and Tyranny Miller defeating the Bluejays' top team 8-1, senior Emma Wang and freshman Margaret Bugnacki prevailing by the same score at #2, and senior Grace Gould teaming up with freshman MJ Campos to blank their counterparts 8-0 at #3.

Campos was the first to finish in singles, where she won the first set 6-0 and the second 6-2 at #2. The clinching point was provided by Wang, who took both sets 6-1 at #3. Bugnacki did not drop a game at #5 and Lord posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory atop the lineup. Miller rolled 6-1 in the first set at #4 before coming from behind to take the second 7-5. Sophomore Natalia Leite finished off the night with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at #6.

It was the first match of the season for Elmhurst while the victory raised the Foresters' record to 2-1.

The next match on Lake Forest's schedule is the team's Midwest Conference North Division opener at Cornell College on April 17.
