Foresters Start Fast but Eventually Drop Season Opener at North Central

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team took two of three in doubles but lost the lead in singles and fell 6-3 at North Central College on Saturday. The match was played at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Illinois.

Forester seniors Julie Lord and Tyranny Miller earned the first point of the match with an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles and the visitors led 20 after freshman MJ Campos and senior Grace Gould finished off another 8-4 triumph at #3.

Unfortunately for Lake Forest, the next six points in the match went to the Cardinals, who prevailed at #2 doubles and each of the top five spots in the singles lineup.

The only Forester to come out on top in singles was sophomore Natalia Leite, who edged out her opponent 6-2, 3-6, (10-4) at #6.

It was the first contest of the year for Lake Forest and the third victory in as many matches for North Central.

The Foresters will travel to Wheaton College next Friday for a 5:00 p.m. contest. The site of the match will be Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois.
