Foresters Blank Beloit in First Dual Match in 15 Days

Sophomore Katie Wegrecki did not lose a game at #6 singles in her return to the lineup and Lake Forest swept Beloit College 9-0 Sunday afternoon at LifeSport Tennis Club in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The Foresters started the match by dropping just one game in doubles. Junior Julie Lord and senior Leeza Bodnar rolled to an 8-0 victory at #1, as did juniors Emma Wang and Grace Gould at #3. Sophomore Tebatso Duba and junior Tyranny Miller added an 8-1 win at #2.

Lord prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at the top of the singles lineup and Bodnar clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at #3. Duba and freshman Natalia Leite posted 6-0, 6-1 victories at #2 and #5, respectively, and Miller prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at #4.

It was the first dual match for the Foresters since September 14 and the win improved their overall record to 8-1 and Midwest Conference mark to 5-1. Beloit fell to 2-5 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Lake Forest will host three fellow conference opponents next weekend, beginning with Ripon College Saturday morning at 9:00. The team will also take on St. Norbert College Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Lawrence University at the same time on Sunday.
