Tebatso Duba Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College women's tennis player Tebatso Duba was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after providing the clinching point in her team's victory over Grinnell College in the finals of last Thursday's Midwest Conference Tournament.

Duba, a freshman, won all three of her matches in the tournament, beginning with an 8-3 triumph with sophomore Emma Wang at #3 doubles in the Foresters' 5-0 victory over St. Norbert College in the semifinals. She also led 6-0, 5-2 at #3 singles when the match ended.

Duba and Wang earned their seventh straight win together against Grinnell, defeating the Pioneers' #3 team 8-5. Lake Forest swept the doubles competition and added a point at #4 singles to make the score 4-0. Duba then finished off her 6-1, 6-2 victory at #3 to secure the Foresters' first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Since transferring to the College before the spring semester, Duba has posted a 7-4 record in singles and 8-1 mark in doubles with each of her matches played at #3.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
