The Forester women's tennis team was successful for the second straight day in Hilton Head, South Carolina, on Monday, shutting out Nazareth College 9-0.
Lake Forest took a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches. Sophomore Julie Lord and junior Leeza Bodnar finished first with an 8-1 victory and sophomore Tyranny Miller and senior Allison Watts won 8-4 at #2. After going 14-0 as a doubles team in the fall, sophomores Emma Wang and Grace Gould played together for the first time this spring and prevailed 8-3 at #3.
The Foresters continued their winning ways in singles. Lord completed her match atop the lineup ahead 6-2, 6-1 and Watts clinched the team's victory with 6-0, 6-3 triumph just minutes later. After a close (6-4) win in the first set, freshman Tebatso Duba finished off her match at #3 with a 6-1 victory in the second. Bodnar dropped only one game at #4, taking the first set 6-0 and the second 6-1. Gould had her first singles competition of the season, finishing strong with a 6-2, 6-4 win. In the exhibition round, freshmen Katie Wegrecki won 8-1.
The closest contest of the day was at #5, where Wang had tough 7-6 (11-9) loss in the first set. However, she dropped just one game in the second and took the super tiebreaker 11-9 after falling behind 7-8.
Lake Forest is now 14-0 and Nazareth 11-4 on the year.
The Foresters will be in action again Tuesday afternoon at 12:15 (ET) against Berry College at Hilton Head Island High School.
