Sophomore Tyranny Miller dropped just three games in her four victories combined on Sunday as the Lake Forest College women's tennis swept Alverno College and host Beloit College 9-0.
Miller and senior Allison Watts played at the top of the doubles lineup against Alverno and defeated the top Inferno tandem 8-1. Forester sophomores Grace Gould and Emma Wang shut out their opponents 8-0 at #2 and Lake Forest won the point at #3 by forfeit.
Watts, junior Leeza Bodnar, and Wang posted 8-0 victories at #1, #2, and #3 singles, respectively, and freshman Katie Wegrecki prevailed by the same score at #5. Miller closed out the contest with an 8-1 triumph at #4.
Miller partnered with Wegrecki at #3 doubles and won 8-1 against Beloit. Gould and Wang were victorious by the same score at #2 and Watts teamed up with Bodnar for the first time since April of 2017 and the Foresters' two most experience players came out on top of an 8-2 decision at #1.
Wegrecki was the first to finish in singles, blanking her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #5. Watts then provided the clinching fifth team point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over the Buccaneers' top player. Miller took both sets 6-0 at #4 and Gould won the first 6-1 and the second 6-0 at #6. Wang triumphed 6-2, 6-1 at #3 and Bodnar finished off the closest match of the day, posting a 6-4, 6-2 victory at #2.
The Foresters are now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Midwest Conference play this season. Alverno, which was defeated by Beloit 7-2 to start the day, fell to 0-11 and the Buccaneers to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the league.
Lake Forest will finish off the fall portion of its dual match schedule in Wisconsin next weekend. The Foresters will play at St. Norbert College Saturday morning at 9:00 and at Lawrence University at 3:00 p.m. before completing the trip at noon on Sunday at Ripon College
