Foresters Finish Off Perfect Weekend with Win Over Monmouth

Sophomore Emma Wang did not drop a game in doubles or singles as the Lake Forest College women's tennis team defeated visiting Monmouth College 9-0 on Sunday.

Wang and fellow sophomore Grace Gould blanked the #3 doubles team from Monmouth 8-0 to make the score 3-0 in the match. Sophomore Julie Lord and junior Leeza Bodnar had also prevailed 8-0 at #1 doubles and senior Allison Watts teamed with sophomore Tyranny Miller on an 8-1 triumph at #2.

The first singles match to finish was #4, where Wang took both sets 6-0. Lord then complete her own 6-0, 6-0 victory at the top of the lineup to clinch Lake Forest's third Midwest Conference win of the weekend. Watts and Bodnar dropped just one game apiece, Watts in the second set at #2 and Bodnar in the first at #3. Gould turned in the home team's third 6-0, 6-0 shutout of the day at #6 and Miller closed out the contest with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at #5.

Lake Forest improved to 5-0 overall this season and 3-0 in MWC play. It was the league opener for Monmouth, which fell to 1-3 overall.

The Foresters will host two more conference matches next Saturday, the first against Cornell College at 9:00 a.m. and the second against Grinnell College at 3:00 in the afternoon.
