Lake Forest Blanks Loras and MSOE to Start 2018-19

Sophomore Grace Gould did not drop a game on the day as the Forester women's tennis team blanked Loras College and host Milwaukee School of Engineering by the same 6-0 score. Due to the weather, the season-opening matches were played indoors at Elite Sports Club-River Glen.

Gould and fellow sophomore Emma Wang began the day by prevailing 8-0 agianst the #3 doubles team from Loras. Sophomore Julie Lord and junior Leeza Bodnar posted an 8-1 victory at #1 and senior Allison Watts combined with sophomore Tyranny Miller on an 8-2 triumph at #2.

Wang took both sets 6-1 at #5 singles and freshman Katie Wegrecki clinched the Lake Forest win with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #6. Miller added a sixth point when she came out on top of a 6-0, 6-3 decision at #5 before they stopped the contest due to time constraints at the facility.

The Foresters also swept the doubles matches against MSOE with all three teams blanking their opponents 8-0.

Watts, Wang, and Gould were also perfect in singles, recording 6-0, 6-0 victories at #2, #4, and #5, respectively.

After the season-opening victories Lake Forest will jump into Midwest Conference play with three league matches at home next weekend. The Foresters will host Illinois College at 9:00 in the morning and Knox College at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. The team will also take on Monmouth College Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
