Foresters Earn ITA Academic Honors

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the list of 2017-18 ITA Scholar Athletes and All-Academic Teams on Tuesday. A pair of Forester women earned the individual honor and Lake Forest also made the cut as a team.

The individuals were freshmen Julie Lord and Tyranny Miller, who were also named Academic All-Midwest Conference earlier this month. Lake Forest's team honor is the program's third in the last four years.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Lake Forest won a team record 23 matches against just three losses and posted an 8-1 record in Midwest Conference play last season. The Foresters qualified for the four-team MWC Tournament for the eighth year in a row and reached the event's final for the fifth time during that span.
