The Forester women's tennis team was defeated 9-0 at Chapman University in California on Friday, ending the squad's 13-match winning streak against teams from four-year colleges.

After dropping a 5-4 decision at Grinnell College on September 9, Lake Forest finished the fall with 10 straight victories and began the spring with three more wins before Friday. The 13-match winning streak ranks second in program history behind the run of 21 consecutive contests from 1974 to 1977.

The most compelling match at Chapman came at the top spot in the singles lineup, where Forester freshman Julie Lord won the first set 6-4 but dropped the second 6-2. The third set super-tiebreaker lasted 30 points with the Panthers' best prevailing 16-14.

Lake Forest fell to 17-2 on the year while Chapman improved to 2-6.

It was the Foresters' final match during their Spring Break trip to California. The team will resume the 2017-18 season at Elmhurst College on March 31.
