Lake Forest Blanks Hope International, Runs Record to 17-1

Sophomore Leeza Bodnar contributed to two of the Forester women's tennis team's four victories at Hope International University on Thursday. Lake Forest also won five points by forfeit and took the match 9-0.

Bodnar and freshman Julie Lord came out on top 8-2 in the only doubles match of the contest. Hope International had just three players available so the visitors were awarded the points at #2 and #3.

Lord sat out in singles, moving junior Allison Watts to the top spot in the lineup. She rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory and Lake Forest sophomore Emma Wang matched that score at #3. Bodnar took the first set 6-2 and the second 6-1 at #2 to finish off the sweep.

It was the 17th win in 18 matches this season for Lake Forest while Hope International fell to 0-9.

The Foresters also played an exhibition match at El Camino College on Thursday and prevailed 6-3. Wang teamed with freshman Grace Gould on an 8-0 triumph at #3 doubles and neither player dropped a game at #4 and #5 singles, respectively. Freshman Tyranny Miller was also victorious twice, winning 8-3 with Watts at #2 doubles and 6-0, 6-0 at #6 singles. Lord came out on top of a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) decision at #1 singles.

Lake Forest will close out it Spring Break Trip to California at Chapman University Friday afternoon at 1:00 (PST).
