Lake Forest College women's tennis player Allison Watts was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance in her team's three Midwest Conference victories over the weekend.

Watts, a junior, started her weekend by winning every game with freshman Julie Lord at #1 doubles and alone at #2 singles Saturday morning in her team's 8-1 triumph at Knox College. The victory by the Foresters clinched their spot in the four-team MWC Tournament, which will be played in April.

Lake Forest also prevailed 9-0 at Monmouth College Saturday afternoon. Watts took both sets 6-1 in singles and combined with Lord on an 8-1 win at the top of the doubles lineup.

The Foresters closed out the weekend by blanking host Illinois College 9-0. Watts played her closest contest of the weekend in doubles, where she and Lord came out on top of an 8-3 decision. She then finished it off with another 6-0, 6-0 blanking at #2 singles.

Watts outscored her opponents 60 games to six on the weekend and her 6-0 record during that time raised her career victory total to 95, which is tied for fourth place in program history. Her 50 career doubles win rank fourth in team annals and her 45 singles triumphs are seventh.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Watts was also named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday.
