Freshman Tyranny Miller won twice and her three-set triumph at #4 singles closed out the Lake Forest College women's tennis team's 5-4 victory at Coe College on Sunday.

Miller and junior Allison Watts gave the visitors the early lead with an 8-1 win at #2 doubles. The Kohawks earned the point at #1 doubles but Lake Forest regained the advantage when sophomore Sara Grosse and freshman Grace Gould finished off an 8-4 victory at #3.

After Coe prevailed at #2 and #6 singles to take a 3-2 lead, Gould edged out her opponent 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 at #5 to tie the score. Forester sophomore Leeza Bodnar came out on top of a 6-4, 6-2 decision at #3 to put the visitors back on top but a three-set decision at the top spot in the lineup went to the home team, leaving the contest knotted at four. After dropping the first set 6-1, Miller took the second 6-2 and the third by the same score to secure the Lake Forest victory.

It was the third 5-4 score of the weekend for the Foresters, who won two of those matches and are now 6-1 on the season. Coe fell to 0-2.

Lake Forest will play three Midwest Conference matches at home next weekend, the first against Lawrence University Saturday morning at 10:00. The Foresters will also host Ripon at 3:00 Saturday afternoon and St. Norbert College Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
