Foresters Blank Concordia Chicago 9-0

Sophomore Amy Budde did not lose a game in her collegiate debut as the Lake Forest College women's tennis team hosted and defeated Concordia University Chicago 9-0 on Friday.

Budde and fellow sophomore Allison Watts started the contest with an 8-0 victory over the #2 doubles team from Concordia Chicago. Freshman Leeza Bodnar and senior Lucia Stumbras prevailed 8-2 at #1 and the home team won by forfeit at #3 to sweep the doubles competition.

Freshman Sara Grosse was the first to finish in singles and, since the Cougars forfeited the point at #6, her 6-3, 6-1 triumph at #5 clinched the victory for Lake Forest. Watts, Stumbras, and Budde blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at #2, #3, and #4, respectively, and Bodnar closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the top spot in the lineup.

The Foresters improved to 9-8 on the year while Concordia Chicago fell to 0-11.

Lake Forest will host North Park University Saturday at 12:30. It will be the final career home match for Stumbras, the team's lone senior, and she will be honored before the contest.
