Senior Christi Valicenti posted a pair of victories at the top of the lineup but the Lake Forest College women's tennis team, ranked tied-for-20th in the Central region, dropped a 7-2 decision to Ursinus College Thursday in Winter Haven, Florida.

Valicenti and fellow senior Grace Dowling defeated the Bears' top doubles team 8-3 to improve their record as partners over the last two years to 24-7. Ursinus, however, won at the other two spots in the doubles lineup and led 2-1 going into singles play.

The Bears prevailed at #3, #4, and #5 singles to clinch the victory and added a triumph at #2. Valicenti then finished off a perfect record over Spring Break by coming out on top of a 7-5, 6-1 decision at #1 singles. Valicenti has now won nine consecutive singles matches, dating back to the fall, and her 21 singles victories (against just one loss) on the year match the program record she set as a freshman. She is also 20-6 in doubles and is just one victory away of tying the team record she set as a freshman in that category as well.

The Foresters finished their Spring Break trip to Florida with a 2-2 record and are now 13-3 on the season. Ursinus improved to 4-1.

Lake Forest will host Augustana next Saturday (March 19) night at 7:00. The match will be played at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
