Foresters Regionally-Ranked for First Time

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its only rankings of the fall on Tuesday and Lake Forest College was tied for 20th in the Central Region.

The Foresters finished the fall portion of their 2015-16 schedule with an overall record of 11-1 and claimed their first Midwest Conference championship in 12 years with a mark of 9-1 in league play.

Freshman Billie Rodman and seniors Christi Valicenti and Grace Dowling were 12-0 in dual matches at #1, #2, and #3 singles, respectively, in the fall. Freshmen Allison Watts went 9-2 at #4 and classmate Tricia Paterakos was 6-2 at #6. Rodman staked her claim as the best player in the conference by claiming the league title at #1 singles and Valicenti was the champion at #2. Dowling was the runner-up at #3.

Rodman was also a conference champion with Watts at #2 doubles while Valicenti and Dowling finished second at #1. The Foresters' top doubles team also knocked off the #2 seeded doubles team and the #14 tandem at the ITA Regional Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in early October.

Lake Forest's next four matches will be played during the team's Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida. The Foresters have seven additional matches on the schedule before competing in the four-team MWC Tournament on April 29. The winner of the event will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, which will begin on May 7.
