Foresters Fall to Region's 14th-Ranked Team

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team was defeated 8-1 at Wheaton College Wednesday night. The Foresters earned their only team point of the match at #1 doubles.

Lake Forest's top tandem of juniors Grace Dowling and Christi Valicenti edged out their counterparts from Wheaton 8-6. Dowling took over the team lead in singles and doubles wins combined with 33, the third-highest single-season total in team history. It was also her 89th career victory, moving her into sole posssession of fifth place in program history in that category. Valicenti raised her team record for overall wins to 104, her mark for doubles triumphs to 56, and her record for victories at the top spot in the doubles lineup to 53.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 13-11 while Wheaton, the 14th-ranked team in the Central Region, improved to 14-5.

Lake Forest will close out the regular season against visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College next Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. It will be the final career home match for Forester senior Leslie Walton.
