The Lake Forest College women's tennis team defeated Principia College but fell 8-1 to host Augustana College on Saturday. Sophomore Lexi Chionis was victorious in both doubles and singles play in the win over Principia.

Chionis and fellow sophomore Zoe Maurer earned Lake Forest's only point in doubles, prevailing 8-1 at #2. Principia edged out the Foresters 8-6 at the other two spots in the doubles lineup.

A 6-1, 6-0 victory by Chionis at #3 singles evened the match at two. A 6-1, 6-3 triumph by Elinor Chalmers, another sophomore, at #5 gave Lake Forest the lead and junior Grace Dowling made the score 4-2 by blanking the Panthers' #2 player 6-0, 6-0. Principia posted victories at #4 and #1 to even the team score with just one match left out on the court. Forester freshman Samantha Ryczek then came out on top of a 6-3, 3-6, (10-8) decision at #6 to secure the team's victory.

Lake Forest's only point against Augustana, the 16th-ranked team in the region, came at #1 doubles, where Forester juniors Christi Valicenti and Grace Dowling won 8-4.

The Foresters are now 13-8 this season. Principia fell to 2-18 and the Vikings improved to 18-5.

Lake Forest will be in action again on Sunday, April 12, at Carthage College when the Foresters take on the Lady Reds at 9:30 a.m. and Concordia University Wisconsin at 1:00 in the afternoon.
