Foresters Defeat Penn State-Berks 7-2

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over Pennsylvania State University-Berks on Tuesday in Florida. Junior Grace Dowling did not drop a game in either of her matches.

Dowling and Valicenti were the first to finish in doubles, having blanked the Nittany Lions' top tandem 8-0. Sophomores Lexi Chionis and Zoe Maurer also won 8-0 at #2 and the Foresters led 2-1 going into singles play.

Senior Leslie Walton's 6-1, 6-2 triumph at #5 singles added to Lake Forest's lead, as did Valicenti's 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1. Dowling took both sets 6-0 at #2 to clinch the team's win. Chionis prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at #3 and Maurer came out on top of a 6-4, 6-4 decision at #4.

The Foresters are now 11-5 on the year and 1-1 on their Spring Break trip. Penn State-Berks fell to 1-5.

Lake Forest will take on Oglethorpe University Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and Seton Hill University at 7:30 p.m.
