The Forester women's tennis team hosted and defeated Lawrence University 6-3 Sunday morning. Lake Forest sophomore Brittany Khayet won both of her matches on the day, despite playing up in the lineup.

Khayet and junior Grace Dowling gave the home team a 2-1 lead after their 8-1 victory at #2 doubles. Lake Forest also earned the point at #1, where junior Christi Valicenti and sophomore Lexi Chionis prevailed 8-0.

The Vikings, however, pulled ahead with victories at #5 and #6 singles.

A 6-2, 6-0 triumph by Valicenti at the top spot in the singles lineup evened the score and Chionis prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at #3 to put the Foresters back on top. Dowling won both sets 6-2 at #2 to clinch the Lake Forest victory and Khayet tacked on a 6-4, 6-3 win at #4.

The Foresters were missing their regular #4 singles player so Khayet moved up into that spot in the lineup. She also filled in at #2 doubles.

Lake Forest is now 6-2 overall this season and 3-1 in Midwest Conference play. Lawrence fell to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the league.

The Foresters will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championship next weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
