Foresters 6-0 after Victory at Carroll

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team won 6-3 at Carroll University to remain undefeated on the season. Freshman Lexi Chionis was one of three Foresters with two victories on the day.

After Carroll earned the first point of the match with a victory at #1 doubles, Chionis and sophomore Christi Valicenti defeated the Pioneers' #2 doubles team 8-4. The Foresters took the lead when freshman Marisa Guggenheim and senior Aimee Fadden edged out their opponents 9-7 at #3.

Sophomore Grace Dowling posted a convincing 6-2, 6-0 victory at #2 singles to extend Lake Forest's lead to 3-1 but Carroll earned the point at #5. Fadden prevailed 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at #6, pulling the visitors to within a point of clinching the victory. The Pioneers won at #1 to stay alive and leave the outcome of the match up to the competitors at #3 and #4 singles.

Chionis fell 6-4 in the first set at #3, as did Guggenheim at #4, but both players won set two by the same score. Chionis also took the third set super tiebreak 10-2 and Guggenheim 10-7 to close out the match.

Lake Forest is now 6-0 on the year while Carroll fell to 7-3.

Select Foresters will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament at DePauw University this weekend. Play begins on Friday and continues through Monday.
