Lake Forest Splits with Beloit and Wisconsin-Whitewater

The Lake Forest women's tennis team saw its eight-game win streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon as the Foresters lost a non-conference match to Wisconsin-Whitewater 8-1. The Foresters (8-1, 2-0 MWC South Division) defeated Midwest Conference foe Beloit College 9-0 on Sunday morning.

The third doubles team of freshman Grace Dowling and sophomore Gracie Mullins won both of their matches on the day, defeating Beloit 8-0 and Wisconsin-Whitewater 8-5. Senior Melika Celebic and freshman Christi Valicenti lost 8-5 at first doubles and junior captains Aimee Fadden and Lucy Cooper lost 8-3 at second doubles.

Fadden had a close match against Wisconsin-Whitewater as she lost by scores of 7-6 (7-3) and 6-1 at fourth singles.

In the morning match against Beloit, Dowling and Mullins blanked Beloit's third doubles team by a score of 8-0. Celebic/Valicenti and Fadden/Cooper each won at first and second doubles by scores of 8-2.  Lake Forest also swept the singles matches with Celebic winning 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Valicenti winning 6-3, 6-2 at second singles and Dowling was victorious 6-0, 6-4 at third singles. Fadden defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles, Mullins won 6-2, 6-0 at fifth singles and freshman Emily Rabin won 6-4, 6-2 at sixth singles. 

Lake Forest returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 13 in a non-conference match at Wheaton at 6:30 p.m.
