GRINNELL, Iowa – First round matchups are set for the 2022 Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Soccer Tournament scheduled to begin this weekend at Grinnell College’s Springer Field.  
 
Originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, the two-day event will now feature two semifinal matches on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., with the winners of both games advancing to a 1:00 p.m. championship match on Sunday. 
 
In the first semifinal, No. 1 seed Grinnell College is matched up against No. 4 seed Cornell College, while No. 2 seed Lake Forest College will take on No. 3 seed Beloit College in the second semifinal.
 
The Pioneers (7-0-1) went through the regular season without a loss, securing the championship title outright for the first time since 2006. The 2018 season marked Grinnell’s last MWC Tournament appearance.
 
Cornell College enters the postseason for the first time since 2019 after going 3-3-2 in league play. The Rams will look to win their program’s first MWC Tournament title.
 
Back in postseason action for the second consecutive season, Lake Forest College went 7-1 to secure a second-place finish in the league standings. With the regular season crown on the line, the Foresters’ only Conference loss came against the Pioneers in the last game of the regular season.
 
Beloit College went 6-2 in MWC action to claim third place in the standings. Last season, the Buccaneers won their program’s first women’s soccer tournament title and made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
 
The winner of the tournament will be named Tournament Champion and will advance to the NCAA Tournament with the league’s automatic qualifier.
