Foresters Extend Winning Streak, Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

Freshman Anna Hoffman scored her fifth goal of the season and helped put the Lake Forest women's soccer team clinch another conference victory over Monmouth College on Saturday.

Hoffman's goal came late in the first half with just under seven minutes to play when she headed the ball into the net off a corner kick by sophomore Theresa Presberg

Senior Iman Shepard added to the Foresters' tally in the 61st minute of play. Senior Alyssa Xanos made a great shot on goal, but it was deflected by the Scots' goalkeeper. Shepard was able to knock the ball quickly into the net of the deflection.

The final goal of the game came from freshman Anna Gracia, when Lake Forest was awarded a penalty kick at the 74:28 mark. Gracia converted the kick easily, securing the win for the Foresters. Gracia and Hoffman are tied-for-first in team rankings for most goals this season with five apiece.

Today also marked the Foresters' Senior Day. Those graduating in May were honored for their contributions to and time with the team in a recognition ceremony at the end of the game.

Lake Forest's record improved 6-3-3; they are undefeated in conference at 3-0. Monmouth's record now sits at 3-6 and 0-1.

The Foresters play next at Belot College on Wednesday, October 5 at 4:30 p.m.
