The Lake Forest College women's soccer team posted its fourth shutout of the season Tuesday, a 3-0 triumph over visiting Ripon College.

The first goal of the game came at the 28:42 mark off the head of freshman Anna Hoffman, who rose up above the defense to deflect a corner kick from junior Ella Manthey into the goal. It was Hoffman's team-high-tying fourth score of the season.

Lake Forest struck again with eight minutes remaining in the first half. Freshman Caitlin Mulcahy gained control of the ball in the middle of the offensive zone, dribbled into the box and around a defender before blasting in a right-footed shot for her first collegiate goal.

The only goal of the second half was scored by senior Paityn Tabor at the 54:58 mark. She took a cross from classmate Alyssa Xanos at the top of the box and sent it into the left side of the net for her second score of 2022.

The Foresters had several more opportunities, out-shoooting the Red Hawks 55-5 in the contest.

Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Maggie Kersting made four saves, all in the first half, to earn her 14th career shutout. She broke a tie with Alison Lynch (2005-08) and is now alone in fifth place in program history with 24 victories.

The Foresters improved to 5-3-3 overall and 2-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. Ripon fell to 1-7-2 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.

Lake Forest will continue conference play against Monmouth College at home on Saturday. The team's Senior Day and Parents Day game will begin at 1:30 p.m.
